Morocco Condemns Israeli Forces’ Ramadan Raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque, Warns of Escalating Tensions

Morocco has reacted to the incursion of Israeli forces into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam. They closed the doors of the place of worship, assaulted worshippers inside the mosque and on its esplanades. The toll is about a hundred injured.
In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Morocco indicates that it considers this blatant aggression and methodical provocation during the month of Ramadan against the sacred character of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its place in the heart of the Islamic Ummah will only stoke feelings of hatred and extremism, and reduce to nothing the chances of reviving the peace process. In order to prevent such events from recurring in the future, the kingdom calls on the United Nations to intervene urgently.
On the instructions of King Mohammed VI, president of the Al Quds Committee, this reaction from Morocco was communicated directly to David Govrin, head of the Israeli Liaison Office in Rabat.
On Friday, the Israeli occupation forces attacked at dawn thousands of Muslim worshippers inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, injuring more than 150 Palestinians with metal-coated rubber bullets and batons.
