Tuesday 6 August 2019, by Kamal

Following the recommendations of the Equity and Reconciliation Instance (IER), 624 arbitration rulings have been executed by the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) to do justice to the victims of the years of lead. An envelope of 87 million dirhams has been allocated to the victims or their families, in this first tranche.

According to a CNDH press release, "on August 6 and 7, the execution sessions of the new arbitration rulings, drawn up by the Follow-up and Implementation Commission of the recommendations of the Equity and Reconciliation Instance, will take place at the headquarters in Rabat, for the benefit of the victims or the families of the deceased, concerning the section related to the reparation of serious human rights violations between 1956 and 1999".

The CNDH apologized to the victims and their beneficiaries for the delays in the execution of the compensations, and committed to closing the file of atrocities and serious human rights violations, by initially processing 624 files that had been pending for some time.

The press release adds that the Follow-up and Implementation Commission of the recommendations continues its work to finalize the administrative procedures, in order to finalize the supplementary retirement files relating to the victims integrated into the civil service.
