Morocco to Compensate Citizens Displaced by Gulf Wars, Officials Announce

Moroccans displaced during the first and second Gulf wars and the invasion of Kuwait will finally receive their compensation. This decision comes from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Things are becoming clearer for Moroccan victims of the Gulf wars. This is what should be remembered from the meeting held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, between their representatives and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) of Morocco.
According to Ibrahim Lebied, member of the Executive Office of the Association of Moroccans Displaced by the War in Iraq, the meeting focused on the number of those affected, their addresses and the advances already received, reports the daily Assabah.
He also said that the MAECI officials have committed to resolving this issue that, according to them, has lasted too long. To this end, it was decided to pay the remaining compensation to the beneficiaries.
Henceforth, it is the Delegate Minister in charge of Moroccans Residing Abroad and Migration Affairs who is leading the file. His role is to continue the administrative procedures.
It should be recalled that many Moroccans had immigrated to Iraq in the 1980s. At the time, they had employment contracts signed by the Ministry of Employment and the competent Iraqi authorities. They worked on construction, mechanical, electrical, etc. sites. But in 1991 and 2003, they had escaped death during the Gulf War.
