Morocco Combats COVID-19 Misinformation as Officials Warn of False Social Media Claims

The Ministry of the Interior has called for vigilance in the face of fake news wrongly attributed to official institutions.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, some accounts on social networks and instant messaging applications on mobile phones are publishing false and erroneous information attributed to official institutions regarding the implementation of preventive measures by the authorities in the fight against the new Coronavirus.
Faced with this observation, the ministry noted that the measures taken in this context are announced by the competent institutions through press releases published through the dedicated official channels. It also invited citizens to be vigilant in this context.
The ministry also stated that all legal provisions will be taken by the competent authorities to identify the persons involved in the publication of these allegations and lies.
