Morocco Closes All Mosques Amid COVID-19 Concerns, Authorities Announce

The body responsible for fatwas, in response to the request addressed by the King of Morocco, Amir Al-Moumine, recommended on Monday, March 16, the closure of mosques for the five daily prayers and Friday prayers.
Although it was expected for next Friday, the Moroccan authorities decided earlier than planned. According to the communiqué of the Supreme Council of Ulema, the decision comes into effect from Monday, March 16, 2020, corresponding to 21 Rajab 1441.
It also adds that it is "temporary" and that prayers will resume in the mosques as soon as the authorities have decided that the health situation is normalized.
Furthermore, the same body recommends "to continue to call to prayer (al-Adhan) in all mosques."
