Morocco Climbs to 101st in UN Global Knowledge Index, Ranks 6th Among Medium-Development Nations

Morocco was ranked 101st out of 154 countries and territories, according to the 2021 Global Knowledge Index, and 6th out of 27 countries with medium human development.
This ranking, carried out by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims to measure knowledge globally as a broad concept closely linked to sustainable development and the various dimensions of contemporary human life.
Specifically, experts assess the close relationship between the quality of knowledge capital, on the one hand, and the ability to build effective knowledge economies that ensure equitable and sustainable development.
Similarly, investments and results in scientific research, development and innovation are also at the heart of sustainable development and are evaluated as part of research, development and innovation. Progress in this area is reflected in information and communication technologies (ICT), while the economy provides an assessment of economic openness and competitiveness.
Improvements in all these aspects of knowledge-based development require an appropriate and favorable environment based on social and political freedoms, as well as healthy environmental and health conditions, whose progress is reflected in a favorable environment, the newspaper points out.
Thus, with a score of 43.5 out of 100, achieved in this 5th edition, Morocco is 10th in the Arab world and ranks behind the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia, and Lebanon.
