Morocco Clarifies: Wedding Parties Under 1,000 Guests Still Allowed Amid COVID Concerns

Information is circulating about a possible suspension of all wedding parties in Morocco, much to the dismay of families who have already incurred expenses.
Are wedding parties suspended or not due to the coronavirus? The director of the Moroccan Federation of Party Organizers, in a statement, declared that "this information is false and that the decision to cancel events does not concern parties and weddings." He notified all regional coordinations of the Kingdom that so far, the Federation has not received "any circular or ministerial decision to cancel or suspend parties and weddings where the number of guests does not exceed 1,000 people."
Similarly, the press release from the Ministry of the Interior, dated March 4, stressed "that there is a cancellation of gatherings where the number of participants or visitors exceeds 1,000 people, such as festivals and religious Moussems and other gatherings, which include foreign guests, to avoid the rapid spread of the virus."
The Moroccan Federation of Party Organizers therefore reassures the public that "this decision absolutely does not concern parties and weddings." It also invited the public to ignore the "fake news" shared on social media and to rely on information from official sources.
