Morocco Child Alcohol Abuse: Three Uncles Arrested and Jailed
Public outrage has led to immediate judicial action. On Monday, the prosecutor’s office placed three men in detention in Benslimane. They were filmed encouraging their six-year-old nephew to consume an alcoholic beverage.
The massive spread of the video sequence prompted direct intervention by the National Human Rights Council (NHRC). Its president, Amina Bouayach, firmly condemned the republication of these images by certain internet users without obscuring the victim’s face, denouncing a violation of his dignity and privacy. "The best interests of the child must remain above all other considerations," she warned, cautioning against lasting psychological repercussions and risks of stigmatization linked to this digital exposure.
