Morocco Challenges Amnesty International’s Spying Allegations, Demands Evidence

The Moroccan authorities have denied the allegations of Amnesty International that they had spied on journalist Omar Radi. They are demanding proof.
The authorities deny having contacted Amnesty before the publication of this organization’s latest report on June 22, 2020. For Morocco, these are "unfounded" allegations whose motivations lie elsewhere. It also refuses to be held hostage by competing economic groups for the marketing of equipment used in intelligence.
Through an official statement, the Moroccan authorities have demanded that the executive director of Amnesty International provide them with tangible evidence as soon as possible, in order to enable the country to take the necessary steps to protect the rights of its citizens, it is reported.
The authorities also took the opportunity to recall the suspension of their cooperation with Amnesty, considering that since then this organization has only chained setbacks against Morocco in the field of human rights protection.
