Morocco’s Catholic Leader Praises King Mohammed VI for Welcoming Pope Francis Visit

The Archbishop of Rabat, in a statement to MAP, and on behalf of all the Catholic Christians in Morocco, thanked the king Mohammed VI for giving them "the opportunity to receive Pope Francis, to live in unity with the universal church, to live in joy and to share the same faith in one merciful God".
According to the latter, the entire Kingdom offers the Christian community the possibility of living their faith "in complete freedom and in an atmosphere of peace and fraternity". Indeed, the archbishop was not sparing in his thanks to the Moroccan people as well: "We, the Catholic Christians in Morocco (Catholic Church), express our satisfaction at having complete freedom of worship, complete freedom to practice our religion. We thank His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, and the Moroccan people who welcome us."
The archbishop then expressed the perfect neutrality of the church in Moroccan social and administrative management issues (the decision and judgment would belong only to Morocco), and expressed the willingness of the Catholic Church to collaborate (with the Moroccan authorities and civil society) to ensure assistance to migrants in need, especially, according to MAP, "unaccompanied minors, pregnant women or with children and the sick". The archbishop, choosing to reveal it as a kind of way of being to be accepted, declares: "As a church, we are called to take care of people who are in distress, including migrants. That is why we have founded reception centers in Tangier, Rabat, Casablanca, in Meknes, in Oujda and in Fez."
Probably a way to prepare for the arrival of the pope, at the end of March, who wishes, among other things, to focus on the issue of migrants. So that no one talks about interference or lessons given, no doubt...
Salam! And welcome.
