Morocco car rental blank checks ban consumer protection

As the summer season approaches, the Moroccan Federation for Consumer Rights is tackling a highly controversial practice. The organization wants to put a definitive end to the requirement of blank checks by car rental agencies.

The approach of summer holidays traditionally causes a sharp increase in reservations for self-drive vehicles. This influx revives the recurring debate around a condition imposed by many service providers on their clients. These agencies require the submission of a signed check with no amount indicated, kept as material guarantee before handing over the car keys.
