Morocco’s Capital Region Reopens Hammams and Spas as COVID Cases Decline

The local authorities have authorized the hammams and spas of Rabat, Salé and Kénitra to reopen from this week, following the improvement of the health situation.
According to Rabie Ouaacha, president of the National Federation of Associations of Owners and Managers of Traditional Hammams and Public Baths in Morocco, the wellness centers and traditional baths have received the green light from the authorities who have insisted on compliance with barrier gestures, particularly on the rules of distancing. Consequently, these centers must only operate at 50% of their capacity.
Ordered to close at the end of January following the increase in infection cases, the hammams and spas in the region have joined the list of those in Casablanca and Agadir, also forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
