Morocco Cancels Major Agricultural Show Amid Coronavirus Concerns

The 15th edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM) will not take place this year, at least not as long as the threat of the coronavirus epidemic remains so strong. This decision is part of the security measures taken by the authorities to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
A joint press release from the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests and the Association of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco, announced on Monday the cancellation of the 2020 SIAM edition, initially scheduled to be held in Meknes, from April 14 to 19.
Among other measures taken to fight the spread of Covid-19, there is the restriction of large events and mass gatherings.
In addition, it was on Monday, March 2 that Morocco recorded its first case of contamination. It is a Moroccan residing in Italy in transit via Mohammed V airport in Casablanca.
