Morocco Cancels Annual Cultural Program for Diaspora Youth Due to COVID-19

The 23rd edition of the cultural stay organized by the Hassan II Foundation for the children of Moroccans living abroad will not take place this year. The reason, once again, is the coronavirus.
Initially scheduled to be held from "July 4 to August 25, 2020", the 23rd edition of the cultural stay will unfortunately not take place. And for good reason! The Foundation cited in a press release, as the fundamental reason, "the global and national state of emergency related to the Covid-19 pandemic".
However, the Foundation has developed a symbolic digital replacement program, intended for children and their loved ones, the same source points out, specifying that it will be launched on its website - "www.fh2mre.ma" - from August 1 to 14, for a period of two weeks with 50 minutes of daily broadcast. The main features of this program will be pottery and craft workshops for children, magic shows and Moroccan storytelling videos, not to forget "a retrospective on the 22 years of existence of the cultural stay".
It should be remembered that the cultural stay of the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans residing abroad was launched in 1988. It offers a two-week stay for the benefit of Moroccan children residing abroad, during the summer holidays, in order to strengthen their ties with Morocco and to allow them to discover certain aspects of Moroccan culture.
To date, this cultural stay has benefited 15,792 children, aged 9 to 11, who have been fully supported by the Foundation (round-trip ticket, stay, excursions, miscellaneous expenses), the press release specifies.
