Morocco Calls Up Gent Striker Tissoudali for AFCON After Ezzalzouli Opts for Spain
Tarik Tissoudali, a player from Gent, was called up in the evening of Thursday to join the Moroccan national team, in preparation for the final stages of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled in a week.
Following the decision of the Moroccan player from FC Barcelona, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, to play for the Spanish team, the national coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, has chosen to replace him with the Gent striker Tarik Tissoudali.
At the age of 28, Tissoudali will therefore seize his chance to finally fulfill his dream of participating in Morocco’s African triumph, he who has scored 16 goals and provided 6 assists, in 34 matches played, in all competitions.
According to a statement from the federation, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli sent a letter, indicating that he would not join the gathering of the Atlas Lions and that he had "decided to play for Spain from now on".
