Morocco: burglars target the homes of Moroccans living abroad

A 23-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, November 3 in Guelmim, suspected of belonging to a network of burglars. The case began on October 28, when residents of the Al Qods neighborhood discovered that two houses belonging to Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) and a sports hall had been burglarized.
The thieves took a large sum of money, jewelry, furniture and the hard drive containing the surveillance camera recordings of the sports hall, reports Achkayen.
The investigation conducted by the judicial police brigade made it possible to identify two suspects. One of them was arrested and stolen items, suspicious cell phones and a motorcycle were seized from his home.
The suspect is currently in custody and the search continues to apprehend the second individual, already identified by the law enforcement authorities.
The two burglarized houses belong to Moroccans residing abroad, absent at the time of the events.
