Morocco to Build Africa’s Longest Bridge in Laâyoune for Tiznit-Dakhla Expressway

The construction work on the second viaduct of Laâyoune, which is part of the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway, will start soon. Ultimately, it will be Africa’s longest bridge with a length of 1,725 meters.
The tender has already been launched to select the company that will carry out the work on this viaduct over the Oued Sakia El Hamra, at the level of the Laâyoune bypass. This viaduct will be the second, after the one that passes through the city of Laâyoune, said Mbarek Fancha, director of the provisional RN1 direction between Tiznit and Dakhla, to Médias24.
These works will cost around 1.2 billion dirhams and will last nearly four years. Once completed, this viaduct, located west of Laâyoune, which will extend over a length of 1,725 meters with 23 spans and an 8-meter carriageway, will be Africa’s longest bridge.
