Morocco breaks its tourist record and rises to 13th place worldwide
Moroccan tourism continues to break historic records in 2025. The sector has reached a new milestone, with 16.6 million tourists welcomed by the end of October, an increase of 14% compared to the same period in 2024. This performance confirms the positive momentum initiated by the 2023-2026 roadmap.
The announcement of this new record figure was made by the Minister of Tourism, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, stressing that these results materialize "an attractive destination for visitors as well as for investors". This statement was made during the signing of a strategic agreement between the Alliances group and Rixos Hotels for the establishment of the first "All-inclusive Luxury" concept in the Kingdom.
The arrival of this global player is part of this upscale trend, as is the expansion of the hotel park. Since 2023, 43,000 new beds have been created across the country, a rate described as unprecedented, reflecting the private sector’s confidence in the destination.
A national strategy to rise to the 13th place worldwide
According to the Minister, these performances are in line with the trajectory opened by the national tourism roadmap. This strategy, supported by significant public investment, has allowed Morocco to regain its status as the African leader and to rise to the 13th place worldwide in the rankings of the most dynamic destinations, according to the UN Tourism classifications.
To support this growth, a major digital component is also in preparation. The Moroccan Tourist Engineering Company (SMIT) is preparing the launch of a digital platform and a multilingual mobile "super app". This system aims to bring together the entire ecosystem, from large operators to SMEs, under a common brand, while offering visitors an immersive experience with an integrated online booking and payment system.
