Morocco Braces for Violent Storms After Record-Breaking Summer Heat

Morocco, which has experienced a scorching summer with record temperatures, is preparing to face a radical change in weather.
Starting next Wednesday, September 4, locally violent storms are expected in the southern provinces and the Atlas mountains, according to forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
This weather alert is linked to the rise of the Intertropical Front (FIT), a meteorological phenomenon where air masses of contrasting temperatures meet. This collision could generate unusually violent storms, particularly in the South and on the Atlas mountains.
The DGM warns of the risks associated with these storms: sudden floods, landslides, and disruption of transportation.
In addition to these storms, this particular weather situation will be accompanied by a new rise in temperatures, particularly in the interior regions of the country.
