Morocco: In Bouznika, elected officials call for an investigation into suspicious authorizations

An opposition elected official has questioned a Vice-President of the Council about the authorizations issued by the urban municipality of Bouznika. He denounces what he calls a "scandal of dubious commercial authorizations".

The elected officials engaged in heated debates during the last ordinary session of the Bouznika municipal council, in the province of Benslimane, due to what one of them calls a "scandal of dubious commercial authorizations". He questioned a Vice-President of the Council, asking him to reveal the list of authorizations issued by the urban municipality of Bouznika and their beneficiaries, reports Al Akhbar.

According to sources, authorizations concerning commercial activities, particularly those related to professional ovens and general food, would have been issued under "dubious conditions" and would be operated by elected officials or their relatives. Authorizations would even have been granted to carry out certain activities in sensitive areas of the city. Responding to the question of the opposition elected official, the Vice-President of the municipality tried to justify with generalities that all the commercial authorizations issued by the municipal services respected the laws in force.

Unconvincing justifications in the eyes of some council members. They then call on the representative of the local authority to intervene urgently to stop what they describe as the "chaos of authorizations" and to open an investigation in this direction.
