Morocco’s Beach Tourism Marred by Unregulated Practices and Price Hikes

In Morocco, the summer season is a period when lobbies and intermediaries take advantage to impose their rules in holiday destinations, ruining the Moroccan experience for vacationers and tourists.
Bad holidays for summer visitors on the beaches? According to Al Akhbar, anarchy reigns on beach sites. Anarchy orchestrated by lobbies and intermediaries who deprive municipal finances of significant revenue with the complicity of certain elected officials and local authorities. They are responsible for the illegal exploitation of maritime domain through temporary authorizations, "often issued for electoral purposes." Control commissions do not make price hikes a concern. Even complaints from vacationers remain unanswered.
Given these observations, it is urgent that authorities advocate for rigorous and transparent management of temporary authorizations issued by local authorities for the occupation of maritime domain. They must also take anticipatory measures, including setting up control commissions on site to protect consumers.
Authorities must ensure compliance with specifications by companies managing parking lots to put an end to harassment by car guards. In addition, it is necessary to put an end to price anarchy by subjecting them to service quality standards. A measure that will allow summer visitors to practice their summer, sports and recreational activities in better conditions.
