Morocco’s Al Boraq: Africa’s Fastest Train Ranks Among World’s Top 10

The tourism specialist website CNN Travel ranks the Moroccan TGV, Al Boraq, in the top 10 of the world’s fastest trains. It is the only high-speed train in Africa to be featured in this ranking.
With a top speed of 320 km/h, on a dedicated 186-kilometer line between Tangier and Kenitra, Al Boraq is in 6th place in the CNN Travel ranking. "Al Boraq also holds the African record for rail speed - during pre-service tests in 2017," the American site notes. According to CNN Travel, until proven otherwise, the high-speed train is the most efficient alternative to air travel.
The ultra-fast Chinese (460 km/h) connecting Shanghai Pudong Airport to Longyang Road station in the city center tops the top 10 of the world’s fastest trains. It is followed by the Chinese "CR400" (350 km/h), the German ICE3, the TGV (330 km/h) and a TGV (320 km/h) that connects several European cities. With a speed of 320 km/h, the Japanese TGV "JR Est E5" closes the top 5.
