Morocco Boosts Risk Pay for Military Health Workers

In Morocco, the government has decided to increase the risk premiums awarded to military health personnel with the status of employees of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).

A decree signed by Faouzi Lekjaâ, the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, and Ghita Mezzour, the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform, formalizes the increase in the risk premiums of military personnel working in the health sector. This measure concerns military doctors, pharmacists, dentists, nurses and health technicians with the status of employees of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR). These increased premiums (between 700 and 2,950 DH and double) should be paid to military health personnel in 2023 and then from 2024.

In detail, a premium of 2,250 DH should be paid to lieutenant colonels from January 2023, then 4,500 DH from early 2024, according to the Arabic-language daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. A military health commander should receive a risk premium of 1,850 DH from next January, then 3,600 DH a year later. Captains will receive 1,400 DH, then 2,800 DH from the same dates. The decree also provides for other remuneration set at 700 DH from January 2023, then 1,400 DH in January 2024.

As for pharmacists, dentists and veterinarians with military status, they should receive a risk premium of 350 DH, then 700 DH respectively from January 2023 and January 2024. Other premiums related to the practice of military health professions ranging from 3,740 DH to 4,340 DH depending on rank are also provided for in the text.
