Morocco Boosts Public Healthcare Salaries to Combat Medical Brain Drain

As of 2023, public sector doctors, pharmacists and dentists will see their remuneration and professional status revalued. This measure taken by the government is intended to limit brain drain.
After "more than a decade" of mobilization, the unions have reached an agreement with the government, during a meeting held on February 22, a press release states.
To this end, the salary scale of doctors, pharmacists and dentists will undergo a change in the civil service. It will now start with index 509, which means a salary increase between 3,200 DH and 3,800 DH.
As for state-certified nurses and health technicians, they will all benefit from a promotion, increasing their classification and therefore their salaries.
The Ministry of Health states that the reforms are only a first phase towards further discussions and the realization of the demands. It also stressed that the new agreement is in line with the country’s efforts to universalize social protection and develop the health sector and its human capital.
