Morocco Boosts Naval Defenses with High-Speed Interceptor Boats to Combat Drug Trafficking

The go-fasts used by drug traffickers had better watch out. The Royal Navy has just received five ultra-fast boats manufactured by Damen Shipyards, a Dutch shipbuilder.
According to Le360, which is taking up information from FAR-Maroc: "These are ultra-fast interceptors, to counter in particular the go-fasts used by drug traffickers and any potential terrorist activity. The order had been placed at the end of 2015 with Damen Shipyards, a Dutch giant in the naval industry".
As for the capabilities, these craft can reach the incredible speed at sea of 120 km/h while allowing a crew of 6 to 10 people and allowing the embarkation of several heavy machine guns. The number of possible machine guns has not been specified, however.
Images of these boats have been posted online by FAR-Maroc, which specifies that in addition to speed, these boats are designed to be able to navigate in difficult conditions. A new era is perhaps dawning in the fight against drug trafficking, illegal immigration but also against terrorist threats.
