Morocco Boosts Maritime Security: Royal Gendarmerie Acquires Advanced US Patrol Boats

The Royal Gendarmerie has received four high-performance 52 Fearless Super Interceptor patrol boats, from the American shipbuilder Metal Shark. This will strengthen its fight against crime in the maritime environment.

The fleet of the Maritime Group of the Royal Gendarmerie is growing with the receipt of four new high-performance 52 Fearless Super Interceptor patrol boats, produced by the American manufacturer Metal Shark, reports the specialized military affairs forum FAR-Maroc in posts on its Facebook and X (ex-Twitter) pages. The Royal Gendarmerie already has one model of the 52 Fearless Super Interceptor. The Royal Navy had also acquired 10 of these devices as part of military cooperation between Morocco and the United States, the same source indicates.

Developed in response to the growing demand from military operators for larger and faster interdiction vessels, the 52 Fearless Super Interceptor offers greater range and better seakeeping. This very high performance patrol boat is capable of navigating in the open sea. The ship represents a very strong advance while benefiting from a widely proven rolling plan and more than a decade of parent boat lineages. It can reach top speeds of around 70 knots and can maintain a cruising speed of 50 knots for more than 12 hours.

Configurable platform designed for missions ranging from drug trafficking to the protection of exclusive economic zones, as well as other law enforcement activities at sea, the 52 Fearless Super Interceptor is available in multiple pre-designed configurations with various propulsion, layout and equipment options, specifies the site nauticexpo.fr, adding that it is a highly optimized version of the Fearless high-performance platform from Metal Shark, using the proven Stepped Vee, Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT) hull design designed by naval architect Michael Peters.
