Morocco Boosts Coastal Security with Advanced Surveillance Camera Network

Moroccan authorities continue to invest in surveillance equipment as shown by the current installation of sophisticated surveillance cameras along the coasts of the kingdom.
As with anything related to rather sensitive acquisitions, mainly the army, the information is never official but is drip-fed by informed sources cited by the media. Thus, the newspaper Al Massae claims that the Royal Navy continues to install surveillance cameras over a large part of the territory to deal with all kinds of trafficking.
The newspaper cites for example the Safi - El Jadida axis where highly accurate cameras allowing to monitor a large part of the coast almost 24 hours a day have been installed. The objective, according to sources cited by the newspaper, is to ward off the illegal maneuvers of ships and all kinds of trafficking.
Al Massae also reports that similar cameras have already been installed in the north of the country, which has long faced illegal immigration and of course drug trafficking with Europe, mainly with Spain.
To exploit the images from these cameras, Moroccans have been sent to the United States to perfect their experience and ongoing training is provided to keep their knowledge up to date, the newspaper also reports.
According to these sources, Morocco is now one of the most advanced countries in terms of territorial surveillance. This surveillance also concerns the south of the country to prevent any incursion, whether of drugs or terrorist elements.
