Morocco Bolsters Border Security with 12 New Turkish Drones

Morocco attaches importance to strengthening the air surveillance capabilities of its borders. In this sense, the kingdom has acquired twelve Turkish drones.
Morocco has bought 12 drones to protect its territory and better strengthen the air surveillance capabilities of its borders, reports Assabah. These new drones will be used to track traffickers of all kinds, fight illegal immigration and control suspicious movements of people.
The military bases near the borders in the North and East of the kingdom are already receiving the new unmanned aerial vehicles. The El Aroui base located in the East, not far from the borders with Algeria and Melilla, has received some. Drugs are circulating in this area. The use of these drones will help reduce human trafficking.
A military base in the Tanger-Tétouan region has also welcomed some drones. These planes will be used to fight illegal immigration and its networks. The competent authorities will be able to monitor the area and transmit images of what is happening, especially in hard-to-reach places during search operations carried out by the security forces. Contrary to the information disseminated within public opinion, there is no question of militarily encircling Ceuta and Melilla. Morocco is only striving to strengthen the surveillance of the national territory and the security belt in the Sahara.
