Morocco Blocks Israeli Repatriation Flight Amid Diplomatic Tensions with UAE

Several Israelis, expected to return to their country for the Passover holiday, are stranded in Morocco due to the diplomatic tension between the kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
While Morocco had initially agreed to their repatriation, it has ultimately changed its mind. The United Arab Emirates, after initially repatriating nearly 200 people from Morocco, are now preparing to repatriate 74 others, still stranded in the kingdom.
According to the army radio, the Hebrew state and the United Arab Emirates were preparing to organize a joint repatriation flight of their citizens from Moroccan territory without prior consultation with the Moroccan authorities.
Frustrated, Morocco has blocked the process. In addition to Israel, the United Arab Emirates have also proposed this arrangement to several other countries facing similar situations. This political crisis comes in a context of tensions marked by Morocco’s rapprochement with Qatar, an enemy country of the United Arab Emirates.
Pending their next repatriation, the Israelis are scattered in hotels in Marrakech and the Moroccan Jewish community.
