Morocco Blames Parents for Youth Unrest, Declares Return to Calm

In a television intervention, the spokesperson Rachid El Khalfi declared that the night from Thursday to Friday took place without violence or sabotage, with the exception of a few isolated cases. He attributed this lull to the "vigilance of the public authorities" but also and above all to the positive role played by the parents following a previous call for the supervision of their children.

The official revealed that "all the acts of sabotage recorded involved minors at 100%". Based on this finding, the ministry now considers these events not as organized protests, but as acts of "juvenile delinquency".

Relying on this analysis, the spokesperson renewed his call to families to contribute to the maintenance of public order, warning that some of these acts could be qualified as "crimes" severely punished by law. The legal, social and material consequences of these actions fell "first and last" on the families themselves.
