Morocco Begins Conscription: 15,000 Youth to Enter Military Service After Eid al-Adha

After Eid al-Adha, the first group of young people subject to military service is expected in the barracks. In the end, 15,000 will be selected out of 25,000, after the medical examination and selection examination phases.
The post-Eid al-Adha period will mark the welcome in the barracks of the first contingent of conscripts for compulsory military service. Authorized sources indicate that the conscripts will have to fill out the enlistment form before undergoing the medical examination scheduled for August 19, reports the360.ma. After this step, they will go through the 12-day selection phase. At this level, 15,000 conscripts will be selected out of 25,000.
From an age group between 19 and 25 years old, the conscripts for military service will then join the barracks. To this end, the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), General Abdelfattah Louarak, has set up several commissions led by colonels and officers. They will oversee the daily smooth running of the operation and create new training centers reserved for women.
On the agenda of the conscripts, two major trainings. The first is a 4-month mixed one, covering subjects such as civic education, military history and organization, collective discipline and physical education. The second is a special one, with a one-month technical military training, followed by an 8-month professional and skills development internship. Conscripts with academic training will receive a short training and will then be assigned to one of the FAR institutions corresponding to their skills.
Those among the conscripts in whom technical or professional skills are detected will be made available to public administrations to carry out work of general interest. Others will join the FAR.
