Morocco to Begin Construction on $650 Million Rabat-Casablanca Highway

The construction of the Rabat-Casablanca continental highway will be launched very soon, announced Omar Sikkal, General Director of ADM Projet, the expertise subsidiary of the National Motorway Company of Morocco, during a workshop on Tuesday.
ADM Projet gives priority to national companies for the realization of this project, whose contract was initially canceled before being relaunched. Thus, 75% of the projected investment amount of 6.5 billion dirhams will be carried out by Moroccan companies and 25% by foreign companies, said Omar Sikkal. Expropriation operations should be finalized by the end of this month of May, reports Médias24.
Feasibility studies for this project began in 2019. With a length of 59 km, the highway aims to improve the service offered to users, streamline traffic on the existing Rabat-Casablanca highway and improve accessibility to the Hassan II Grand Stadium in Casablanca, under construction in Benslimane. In total, eight viaducts, 48 engineering structures, 5 interchanges as well as 3 bifurcations and nodes will be built as part of this project.
The completion of the work is scheduled for 2029, one year before the 2030 World Cup. Eventually, daily traffic of 27,000 vehicles is expected on this highway.
