Morocco’s Beach Tourism Hampered by Lack of Public Restrooms

In Morocco, most beaches lack sanitary facilities (toilets, showers, first aid centers...). A situation that creates inconveniences for tourists and Moroccans living abroad, especially during the summer season.
It is difficult to find public toilets on Moroccan beaches. And the few that do exist are not maintained, much to the dismay of vacationers who are forced to relieve themselves in the toilets of cafes or in the sea. They blame the local authorities for their indifference to this recurring issue that seriously affects domestic tourism.
According to environmental experts, the lack of public toilets also contributes to the pollution of Moroccan beaches, which are very crowded during the summer. Local authorities would do well to follow the example of many European cities whose beaches are equipped with modern public toilets and sanitary facilities.
