Morocco Bans Chewing Gum in Schools to Promote Health and Cleanliness

The chewing gum craze in schoolyards and classrooms in Tiznit is over. The Ministry of National Education has decided to ban "Meska" in all schools in the province.

This measure, relayed by a note circulated by the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry, aims, it is said, to preserve the health of students and maintain a clean and respectful school environment. The note indeed emphasizes the potential harmful effects of chewing gum consumption on health, while highlighting the "non-educational" aspects of this behavior.

Beyond health concerns, the ban also aims to fight against the pollution of school spaces. Chewed and discarded chewing gum soils the yards, floors, walls and classroom furniture, creating an environment that is not conducive to learning and student well-being, according to the note.
