Morocco Bans Alcohol Sales During Ramadan in Major Cities

In Rabat, Muslims will not be able to consume alcoholic beverages throughout the month of Ramadan. A directive from the Ministry of the Interior prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages in tourist establishments and liquor stores in the city.
The ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages in tourist establishments and liquor stores came into effect a few days ago in Rabat and other cities of the kingdom. Only Muslims are affected by this decision emanating from the Ministry of the Interior. The local authorities of Rabat-Salé, Temara/Skhirat, Kénitra, Sidi Kacem and Khemisset are invited to ensure strict compliance with this decision.
The ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages in tourist establishments and liquor stores on the eve of Ramadan is a decision that the Moroccan authorities have been making since July 1967.
In Morocco, the holy month of Ramadan began on Sunday, April 3.
