Morocco Awaits Saudi Decision on 2020 Hajj Pilgrimage Amid Uncertainty

As long as the Saudi authorities have not officially communicated on the matter, Morocco cannot provide information on this year’s pilgrimage, says the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Taoufik.
According to the Saudi Minister of Hajj, through correspondence, it will be necessary to wait before concluding contracts relating to accommodation, transport and subsistence services. All this based on contracts signed several months in advance.
Ahmed Toufiq provided these details during a meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs and Moroccans Residing Abroad, held on May 28 last at the House of Representatives.
The minister stresses that no contract has yet been signed concerning accommodation, transport and subsistence, before adding that the pilgrimage requires a lot of organization, measures and time and that the issue depends on the decision of the Saudi authorities.
