Morocco’s Auto Exports Surge: Over 240,000 Cars Shipped in 9 Months, Revenue Hits 58 Billion Dirhams

The Moroccan automotive industry continues the upward trend observed since the first half of this year. As of the end of September, exports reached 58.35 billion dirhams and a little over 244,000 cars.
These exports are up 16.4%, the Foreign Exchange Office said in its monthly indicators, adding that this performance is attributable to the increase in sales in the construction segment (+22.4%), the wiring segment (+7.7%) and the vehicle interiors and seats segment (+7.1%).
In addition, sales of phosphates and derivatives jumped 44.6% to nearly 54.83 billion dirhams, explaining this development by the increase in sales of natural and chemical fertilizers (+10.52 billion dirhams) due to the 56.5% increase in price. The exported quantities of this product, on the other hand, remain almost stable.
On the textile side, the office notes a 19.9% increase, due to the sales of ready-made garments of 3.07 billion dirhams and those of knitwear articles of 1.3 billion dirhams. However, these exports remain below the growth recorded two years earlier.
