Morocco’s AstraZeneca Vaccine Delivery Delayed Indefinitely, Raising Uncertainty

The arrival of the British vaccine AstraZeneca in Morocco was no longer effective on Saturday, January 16, 2021. The delivery has been postponed indefinitely.
While Royal Air Maroc (RAM) was to take off on Friday afternoon for India, where the vaccine is manufactured under license, to return on Saturday to Casablanca, with the first batches of the British vaccine AstraZeneca, a reliable source told Médias24 that the operation has been postponed. Another postponement that leaves major uncertainties.
"There will be no official announcement regarding the arrival of the vaccine until the Moroccan plane has taken off from the supplier country with the containers on board," the same source said. The Minister of Health, Khaled Aït Taleb, also declared: "We are awaiting the arrival of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine at any moment," without giving any details.
On January 4, he had approved the temporary emergency use authorization of the "Covidshield" vaccine manufactured by AstraZeneca, after the opinion of the national advisory commission.
