Morocco Arrests Two for False Coronavirus Claims as First Real Case Confirmed

The Moroccan police arrested two individuals on Monday who had spread rumors about the coronavirus, just a few hours before the confirmation of a first case of contamination.
The two suspects had filmed and posted a video claiming they had contracted the coronavirus in a European country, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in a statement. This statement was published just a few hours before the Ministry of Health confirmed a first case of contamination with the new coronavirus.
According to the ministry, it is a Moroccan residing in Italy, diagnosed positive by the Pasteur Institute-Morocco. "His condition is stable and does not cause concern," assure the health authorities. He has been isolated in a Casablanca hospital "where he will be taken care of according to the health measures in force".
Morocco reaffirms that measures are in place to ensure permanent monitoring. Likewise, the fight against rumor spreaders within the population continues.
