Morocco Arrests Two for Distributing Religious Tracts Urging Girls to Veil

For having distributed tracts calling on young women to wear the veil and dress decently, two young people were arrested this week in Martil, in northern Morocco.
The details of this case are reported by the newspaper Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, which explains that the security services arrested two individuals who were distributing tracts containing verses from the Quran and hadiths strongly advising women to dress according to "the precepts of Islam" and to veil themselves.
The two young people were targeting high school and middle school girls at the exit of schools and in cafes, the newspaper specifies, stating that they were arrested and placed in custody and the investigation will have to determine the origin of these tracts and the sponsors. The authorities believe that these publications come from abroad.
To better convince the "recalcitrant", the tracts also contained shocking photos on the punishments that would await women in hell if they did not wear the veil or did not dress "decently".
The newspaper recalls that a few days ago, radicalized young people had prohibited access to the cemetery of the city of Tétouan, imposing rituals that, according to them, would better respond to the Sunni Muslim tradition.
