Morocco: Two Arrested for Inciting Coronavirus Measure Boycott and Prison Break

While some are raising awareness for the scrupulous respect of the measures taken by the Moroccan authorities to contain the spread of the coronavirus, others, through publications, are inciting to boycott these provisions. This is the case of these two individuals, aged 38 and 45, arrested this week in Tetouan.
In addition to being suspected of having incited non-compliance with the restrictive measures, the two suspects are accused of having committed crimes and offenses against persons and public order. In a press release, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated on Tuesday that "the first suspect had posted several statuses on his personal account on social networks, calling to storm the penitentiary institutions and release the prisoners in case of worsening of the crisis".
As for the second suspect, he was caught in the act of hanging a banner on the windshield of his car, "inciting disobedience" and calling on citizens to go against the temporary closure of mosques.
The first suspect, aged 38, was placed in custody, at the disposal of the investigation ordered by the competent prosecutor’s office. As for the second, he is the subject of a preliminary investigation to determine the reasons and motives for his actions.
