Morocco Approves Overhaul of Casablanca Financial Hub to Boost Transparency and Appeal

The government has adopted a decree-law reorganizing the financial hub of the city of Casablanca. This was on Thursday, September 24, following the presentation by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mohamed Benchaâboun, during the Council of Government.

According to the presentation made by the minister, the decree-law aims to strengthen the transparency and nature of the activities carried out within Casablanca Finance City and to improve the attractiveness of this hub.

Morocco has been working for several months to attract financial companies to the region. The authorities are also making considerable efforts for the European Union to remove Morocco from the gray list of countries with a tax regime deemed harmful.

The 2020 Finance Act has devoted several measures to this and according to several sources, the 2021 one will also focus on the issue.
