Morocco Approves Major Expansion of Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport

The project to extend the Mohammed V airport in Casablanca is taking shape. The construction of a third terminal and a new runway will be carried out on an area of 910 hectares.
In addition to these two infrastructures, the project also includes the redevelopment of the other two terminals of the Mohammed V airport. At the end of the work, the Casablanca airport will be one of the largest on the continent, in terms of surface area and quality of services, reports Médias24.
The issue of land was one of the obstacles to the start of the project. But it has finally been resolved by the government, the same source informs, specifying that the Moroccan Executive has taken a decision dated December 13, 2024 to expropriate in favor of the National Airports Office (ONDA) plots of land with a total area of 910 hectares in the commune of Nouceur.
This step having been taken, and the feasibility studies having been completed, the project to extend the Casablanca airport can now enter its active phase. The ONDA will proceed in the coming days to the launch of several calls for tenders to launch the construction site. The work should last four years.
