Morocco Approves Expulsion of Controversial Imam Hassan Iquioussen from France

Morocco has given France the green light to expel Hassan Iquioussen, the imam of Lourches, accused of anti-Semitism, to the kingdom.
While answering a question from RN deputy Sénastien Chenu in the National Assembly on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced that Morocco had issued a "consular laissez-passer, 24 hours ago" to "expel manu militari" Hassan Iquioussen, registered in the "FPR", the file of wanted persons. According to him, the expulsion of the dignitary will be effective shortly. "We summoned him to the police station and as soon as the police or gendarmes have arrested Mr. Iquioussen, he will be expelled from the national territory without the possibility of returning," added the minister.
Although he was born in France, Hassan Iquioussen, 57, does not have French nationality. According to Gérald Darmanin, he did not choose French nationality. He is therefore of Moroccan nationality. The imam of Lourches is accused of holding "for years a hateful discourse against the values of France". The law against separatism enacted in August 2021 makes it possible to expel this father of five children. According to his lawyer, Lucie Simon, his life could be "in danger" in Morocco because of his political positions.
