Morocco Appoints First Liaison Office Head in Israel, Marking Diplomatic Milestone

Abderrahim Beyyoudh, head of the Moroccan delegation on a mission in Israel, took up his duties on Tuesday in Tel Aviv. He thus becomes the 1st head of the Moroccan Liaison Office in Israel after the signing of the agreement relaunching diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In a statement, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the arrival of the Moroccan delegation in Tel Aviv, following the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During the meeting that brought together the authority and the Moroccan delegation, the minister expressed his good wishes for the start of his important mission. It aims to develop "collaborations" between the two countries, the statement said.
As for Abderrahim Beyyoud, he was delighted with his appointment to this position in Israel and promised to work to promote relations between the two countries. "Today, we are writing history," acknowledged the Israeli Foreign Minister. Morocco was the fourth Arab country to sign the normalization of its relations with Israel in 2020, after the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan, as part of agreements negotiated by the administration of former US President Donald Trump.
A career diplomat, Abderrahim Beyyoudh held the position of Consul of Morocco in New York and then that of Consul General in London. Before his appointment in Israel, he was head of the North America and Caribbean Division.
