Morocco Anticipates Surge in Israeli Tourism as Diplomatic Ties Strengthen

Since the normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel, the demands are increasingly strong from Israelis who want to visit Morocco, and vice versa. This will be effective as soon as direct flights between Rabat and Tel Aviv are set up, says the chargé d’affaires of the Israeli liaison office David Govrin, who says he expects a "spectacular increase" in the number of Israeli tourists in Morocco.
"Israel would like to establish full diplomatic relations as soon as possible," Govrin told Times of Israel, adding: "We are trying to expand our bilateral relations with the Moroccans in many areas [...] the potential is very high."
According to him, "these informal links would help facilitate the resumption of contacts between the two countries. It’s much easier than in other Arab countries, because over the past two decades, we have had constant contacts with Moroccan civil society. Many representatives of various Moroccan organizations have visited Israel." He also did not obscure the central role of the Moroccan Jewish community in this resumption of relations between the two countries, explaining that thanks to this, "we are not starting from scratch."
It is a hotel in the capital that houses Mr. Govrin’s services, pending moving very soon into rented offices, and flights between Tel Aviv and Rabat should start within two months, announced on i24News the chargé d’affaires of the Israeli liaison office, tipped to become Israel’s ambassador when relations are fully established. Morocco, he adds, would be preparing for a "spectacular increase" in the number of tourists, at least double, and already many Moroccans are interested in the procedures for obtaining a visa to visit Israel. All Israeli companies would have requested to connect the two countries, just as Royal Air Maroc has expressed.
