Morocco Anticipates Eid al-Fitr as Ramadan Nears End on April 10

Started on March 12 in Morocco, Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, is looming for millions of Moroccans. When will Eid al-Fitr take place this year?
Ramadan 2024 is nearing its end. Started on March 12, the holy month is expected to last 29 days this year and end on April 10. Only the observation of the new moon will confirm the official date of Eid al-Fitr in Morocco, marking the end of this ninth month of the Muslim or Hijri calendar. A mission entrusted to a committee of religious experts by the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs. At the end of the month of Ramadan, the Muslim must pay the "Zakât al Fitr", a mandatory alms instituted by the Prophet Muhammad. The amount of Zakat Al Fitr for the year 1445H/2024 is set at 20 dirhams per person, announced the Supreme Council of Ulema in a fatwa.
The celebration of Eid al-Fitr is a festive moment. After the prayer, the family gathers around a festive meal, including various dishes and Moroccan pastries, symbolizing the end of Ramadan. This holiday is also marked by family visits, the reception of gifts by children. Moroccans should benefit from a few days off as a vacation.
