Morocco Anti-Vaccine Pass Protests Persist as Police Clash with Demonstrators

Opponents of the vaccine pass mobilized again this weekend in several cities, demanding the withdrawal of the government’s decision. Gatherings dispersed by the police, who made arrests.
The anti-pass protesters are not giving up. They have multiplied the demonstrations since October 21, the date on which the pass became mandatory in public spaces. While the movement has weakened in Rabat, where the police dispersed the protesters, it has hardened in Tangier and Marrakech.
In the port city, hundreds of refractories chanted messages hostile to the vaccine pass. "Down with the vaccine pass," can be read on the banners and other displays.
Likewise, in Casablanca, the crowd of protesters who stormed the main streets was dispersed, with several arrests. For the time being, no information has been given on the number of protesters arrested.
Awaiting the vaccination campaign. To date, more than 22.2 million Moroccans have received a second dose of the anti-Covid vaccine. The government aims to achieve herd immunity by vaccinating 80% of the population (i.e. 30 million people).
