Morocco Announces Ramadan to Begin May 7, Fasting Month Commences

The month of fasting for Ramadan will begin on Tuesday, May 7 in Morocco, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced in a statement on Sunday evening.
It is this Sunday, the 29th of Sha’ban of the Hijri year 1440 (corresponding to May 5, 2019), that the nadirs and delegates of Islamic Affairs throughout the kingdom as well as the units of the Royal Armed Forces associated with the observation, confirmed the non-observation of the crescent moon announcing the holy month of Ramadan.
This fasting period, which takes place each year during the ninth month of the Hijri calendar, lasts 29 to 30 days. The end of Ramadan, scheduled for June 5 or 6, is marked by Eid al-Fitr.
The majority of other Arab and European countries, on the other hand, should start Ramadan tomorrow, Monday, May 6, 2019.
