Morocco Announces Ramadan to Begin April 25 as Moon Sighting Confirms Start Date

The month of fasting of Ramadan will begin on Saturday, April 25 in Morocco, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced in a statement on Thursday evening.
The ministry states, in a press release, that it observed the crescent moon of the blessed month of Ramadan on Thursday, the 29th of Sha’ban 1441 of the Hegira, after the Maghrib prayer, adding that "the Nadirs of the Kingdom and the Units of the Royal Armed Forces associated with the observation have confirmed the non-observation of the crescent moon announcing the sacred month of Ramadan".
And to specify that "Friday will be the 30th day of the month of Sha’ban and the first day of the sacred month of Ramadan 1440 of the Hegira will correspond to Saturday, April 25, 2020".
The end of Ramadan, scheduled for May 23 or 24, is marked by Eid Al Fitr.
The majority of other Arab and European countries, on the other hand, are to begin Ramadan tomorrow, Friday, April 24, 2020.
